GTA 6 Trailer 1 is Rockstar’s first official look at Grand Theft Auto VI. It was scheduled as a December 5, 2023 YouTube Premiere (9:00 a.m. ET) after a December 1 Newswire countdown and a palm-sunset overlay on Rockstar’s site.
Release & leak
Less than 16 hours before premiere, the file leaked. Rockstar pulled the Premiere forward to 6:00 p.m. ET on December 4, 2023. That drop also locked the full title after years of “next GTA” language. Instagram history was wiped ahead of the campaign.
Records
The YouTube upload cleared 90 million views in 24 hours (second-most viral YouTube video at the time) and 200 million in a little over six months. It remained the last major gameplay-adjacent look until Trailer 2 in May 2025.
What it showed
Neon Vice City, dual leads (including a voiced Lucia), and the tone of Leonida nightlife. Community freeze-frames later mapped brands and districts into this wiki. Trivia: some textures fans tied to GTA: The Trilogy’s 2021 remaster (e.g. Daewang signage) and later Title Update 1.112 liquor-store art matching a Trailer 1 final shot.
