Grand Theft Auto VI (also called GTA 6 or GTA VI) is an upcoming open-world action game from Rockstar Games, scheduled for November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It is the seventeenth numbered entry in the series and the next HD Universe title after Grand Theft Auto V.
Overview
Rockstar frames GTA 6 as the biggest evolution of the franchise yet: a dual-protagonist crime story starring Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval in the fictional southern state of Leonida. The official pitch places the couple in Vice City after a botched score, tangled in a conspiracy that stretches across counties, agencies and the Vice City Police Department.
The game is built in Rockstar’s RAGE engine and ships in English plus a wide localisation set (French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Traditional and Simplified Chinese, Latin American Spanish and Korean).
Plot
Lucia and Jason are a romantic criminal partnership who “always knew the deck is stacked against them.” When an easy job goes wrong, they are pulled onto the darkest side of America’s sunniest state and forced to depend on each other to survive. Allies named in official and promotional material include Jason’s friend Cal Hampton, retired drug-runner and boss Brian Heder, and record producer Dre’Quan Priest. Setting
Leonida is a Florida-coded HD Universe state centred on neon Vice City and Vice-Dale County, with named regions including Kelly County (Port Gellhorn), Leonard County (Waning Sands), Mariana County (Grassrivers and the Leonida Keys), Ambrosia County (sugar country) and Lummox County. The northern edge is described as reaching Mount Kalaga National Park.
Release date & platforms
After a Fall 2025 window, then a May 26, 2026 date, Rockstar locked launch to Thursday, November 19, 2026 on PS5 (including PS5 Pro) and Xbox Series X|S. Pre-load begins November 12. There is no confirmed PC or last-gen version at launch. See release date and pre-order.

Gameplay
